The Fourth Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar Report
March 2016 marked the 5th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. In that regard, the Fourth Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar was held as part of the “Forever remembered” project by the Japanese Red Cross Society.
The Third Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar
The Japanese Red Cross Society and the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing co-hosted the Third Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar on October 3, 2014. The seminar was conducted under the theme of “Health Assistance for Nuclear-Disaster Affected People” and the participants thought about medium- and long-term health assistance in case of possible nuclear disasters and challenges in the future.

The JRCS and The Simplest Explanation of the National Diet of Japan Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission Report co-hosted the 2nd Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar entitled “For an inescapable day in the future -What we, high school students, can do now-” at the JRCS Headquarters on March 15, 2014.
The First Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar
The First Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Seminar was held on December 2, 2013 at the Japanese Red Cross Society National Headquarters. The President of JRCS, Mr. Tadateru Konoe gave the opening speech, after which Mr. Shuichi Nishijima, the Director General of the Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Resource Center, explained the role of the center. Then Dr. Makoto Akashi, Executive Director of the National Institute of Radiological Sciences and Dr. Yoichi Watanabe, Deputy Director General of the Fukushima Red Cross Hospital gave keynote presentations.
