Hidaka team activity report (mobile clinic in Aizuwakamatsu area)_Relief activities by the Japanese Red Cross Otsu Hospital on Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
This is part of a report about relief activities conducted by the Japanese Red Cross Otsu Hospital during the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. This part is about relief activities by Team Hidaka that provided mobile clinic services in Aizuwakamatsu area.
Since the damage caused to this area by the disaster was minor, the residents were living a normal life there. However, the evacuees were not able to return to their homes and living at evacuation centers. Their lives were extraordinary. It seemed that two worlds co-existed in one area. At the evacuation centers, they were living in an environment with no privacy. The people evacuated to the area due to the nuclear accident and their houses were not damaged by the tsunami. They did not know when they would return to their homes and felt stress. The team members felt the importance of providing psychological care to the survivors.
