About Digital Archives

Purpose of the Digital Archives

The experience and salutary lessons the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) learned from the relief activities in Fukushima in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident (“Fukushima Daiichi accident”), propelled the Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Resource Center to realize the importance of recording, inheriting, and communicating the information related to nuclear disaster response on a continuous basis. Because of this, we collected, processed, and analyzed the relevant information and published it as the Red Cross Nuclear Disaster Resource Center Digital Archives in October 2013 so that it could be communicated broadly across the country and overseas via the internet.
